Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland Resort In Anaheim, California are both the perfect vacation destinations. When choosing your next vacation there are a few different things to keep in mind when deciding where you will go!
Location
Obviously a huge deciding factor for most people is the location! For some people it’s easier or less expensive to get to one destination as opposed to the other! Walt Disney World is DRASTICALLY bigger than Disneyland, that being said everything is much more spread out and more often than not guests will need to utilize different modes of transportation to get to the different parks from their resort. While at Disneyland you can walk everywhere! You can physically walk from one park to another, where at Walt Disney World you will have to take a monorail, bus, boat or skyliner to your next destination. Park Hopping at Disneyland resort is effortless, where at Walt Disney World a little bit more planning and time is involved.
Time
Disneyland Resort is more often than not a shorter trip than Walt Disney World. There are only two parks, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Most people tend to spend three days in the parks during a 4 night stay on their Disneyland vacation as opposed to the week long stays most people do at Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World has four parks, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. It doesn’t stop there though. Walt Disney World is also home to two water parks, a boardwalk and almost 30 different resorts, so even in a week-long trip we promise you still won’t see everything that Walt Disney World has to offer!
Attractions
While Walt Disney World might be larger than Disneyland, Disneyland is known for being more nostalgic to guests. There are several rides in Disneyland that unfortunately aren’t around anymore in Walt Disney World, such as Mr Toad’s Wild Ride. While there are tons of rides that are similar or the same, they aren’t exactly identical! For example The Tower of Terror is in Hollywood Studios, but Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout is at Disneyland. In terms of the Holidays Walt Disney World has overlays on rides such as Living with the Land, Space Mountain, and a few others. While at Disneyland during the Halloween and Christmas seasons the Haunted Mansion transforms with a Nightmare Before Christmas, and It’s a Small World also enjoys a Holiday makeover. Disneyland Resort is also home to Avengers Campus, so marvel fans may prefer Disneyland Resort to Walt Disney World alone! However Walt Disney World is home to Pandora from the Avatar and that isn’t at the Disneyland Resort. Star Wars fans will greatly appreciate that both coasts are home to Galaxy’s Edge!
Food
While there are several similarities between the two Disney locations, which has the best food is something that most of the Disney community disagree on! Walt Disney World has countless restaurants between all of the resorts, parks, and Disney Springs. Food options are a little bit more limited at The Disneyland Resort. They both offer character dining, quick service and table service meals. Disneyland is notorious for having INCREDIBLE churros and churro toffee. While Walt Disney World has a HUGE variety of snacks in each park from Dole Whip, to cheeseburger egg rolls and EPCOT alone is a foodie's dream every day of the year!
Ultimately choosing a vacation destination varies depending on what each traveler wants to experience on their vacation! If you’re looking for a shorter trip that doesn’t require venturing from place to place Disneyland is a match made in heaven! For travelers looking for a longer trip and lots of scenery changes Walt Disney World might be more your speed!
